Ivan Mikitas

Ivan Mikitas began learning piano at the age of five and has continued to develop his passion for music throughout his life. He teaches piano, keyboard, music theory, and composition, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Auckland. As a composer, his works have been performed by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and its string quartet as part of the Our Voice programme, as well as various competitions such as the Llewlynn Jones Piano Competition . He has also performed in a number of professional settings such as the Lilburn Trust Awards as part of various ensembles and other venues with his violinist colleague.

Ivan is passionate about making music accessible to everyone, fostering learning through a shared love of music and cultural exchange. His teaching approach combines technical skill development with creativity, encouraging students to explore, express themselves, and build confidence as musicians.
