Dr Elena Abramova began her music training at the age of four in her native Russia. Between 1996-2002 she lived in Seoul, South Korea, where she played with a number of professional orchestras and performed as a soloist throughout the country. She arrived in New Zealand in 2003 and has played professionally with orchestras including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia, and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra. She has been Concertmaster of Waitakere Orchestra, Auckland Sinfonietta, Opus Orchestra, Aorangi Symphony and NZ Concerto Orchestra and has appeared many times with these groups and others as a soloist.

Elena’s students excel in all grade and diploma examinations, continuing through to tertiary education, and they have also won prizes in national and international competitions. She holds a Master of Music (Hons) from the State Conservatory of St Petersburg and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA - Violin Performance) from the University of Auckland.
