Peixuan Xie

Cello • Established Artist

Peixuan Xie is a cellist and educator with a rich international background, born in China and raised across the UK, US, and Germany. Her musical training draws from four distinct traditions, combining the creativity of the American approach, the discipline of the German school, and the refinement of British education. This diverse foundation shapes a teaching style that is both technically grounded and deeply expressive.

She is a graduate of the Royal College of Music (RCM), London, ranked as the world’s leading institution for Performing Arts by the QS World University Rankings. Peixuan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance and the ABRSM Teaching Diploma. She has studied under distinguished teachers including Raphael Wallfisch, Amanda Truelove, and Tillmann Vick, and has received further artistic guidance from Steven Isserlis, Hannah Roberts, and Josephine Knight.

During her time at the Royal College of Music, Peixuan served as Principal Cellist of the RCM String Orchestra and performed as a member of the only RCM String Octet. Her performances have taken her to notable venues such as London’s Southbank Centre and the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall, and she has been featured in the RCM Open Day series. As a teacher, Peixuan is known for her warm and thoughtful approach. Through her studies in the Alexander Technique, she places strong emphasis on the connection between the body and sound. Her lessons focus on helping students develop healthy posture and breathing, reduce tension, and play with freedom, confidence, and imagination.

Peixuan works with students of all ages and levels, always aiming to cultivate not only strong technique but also a personal and joyful connection to music. Her international experience, artistic insight, and supportive teaching philosophy create a space where each student can grow, explore, and find their own voice.
